![](https://www.tumblr.com/widgets/share/tool?posttype=photo&canonicalUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yeoahn.com%2Fdesignandchange%2Falbums%2Fbeing-ignored-20%2F&content=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yeoahn.com%2Fdesignandchange%2Fstorage%2Fcache%2Fimages%2F000%2F597%2F117116700-10160065238266754-5705408916167404275-o%2Flarge.1597292135.jpg&caption=%3Cp%3E%3Cstrong%3E%3Ca href="http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yeoahn.com%2Fdesignandchange%2Falbums%2Fbeing-ignored-20%2F" title="Being Ignored 2.0"%3EBeing Ignored 2.0%3C/a%3E%3C/strong%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAsian+female+faculty+is+a+small+but+growing+population+of+higher+education+faculty+in+the+United+States.+Asian+females+include+a+wide+variety+of+ethnicities%2C+distinct+by+geography%2C+culture%2C+language%2C+economics%2C+and+history.+This+project+particularly+focuses+on+Asian+female+faculty+bonded+with+the+local+and+global+experiences+of+%E2%80%98Asian+Women%E2%80%99+in+the+United+States+%5B3%5D.+According+to+the+paper%2C+%E2%80%9CWomen+of+Color+Faculty+at+the+University+of+Michigan%3A+Recruitment%2C+Retention%2C+and+Campus+Climate%E2%80%9D%2C+women+faculty+of+color+might+be+the+most+marginalized+faculty+on+US+campuses.+Challenging+areas+are+isolation%2C+high+attrition%2C+student+evaluations%2C+peer+perception%2C+more+service+responsibilities%2C+etc+%5B2%5D.+Being+professors+were+predominantly+conceived+as+male+positions+in+the+Asian+cultures.+It+was+a+social+privileged+and+highly+respected+position+in+the+patriarchal+Asian+cultures.+Asian+female+faculty+occasionally+encounters+circumstances+to+be+less+inclusive+and+invisibly+exclusive+in+the+Asian+communities+since+their+emerging+populations+may+threat+their+well-established+patriarchal+hierarchy+being+controlled+and+led+by+men+in+the+Asian+communities.+Asian+female+faculty+in+the+United+States+struggles+to+navigate+between+two+exclusive+communities%2C+Asian%2C+and+American.+The+Asian+communities+give+Asian+women+pressures+to+perform+traditional+roles+as+prefect+mothers+and+ideal+housewives+without+mutual+spousal+supports.+Asian+female+faculty+bonded+with+the+cultures+is+inevitably+destined+to+being+isolated+and+marginalized+by+their+ethnic+groups+to+avoid+criticisms+toward+their+traditional+roles.+On+the+contrary+the+Asian+female+faculty+suffers+from+stereotypes+being+perceived+as+uncomplaining+perseverance+and+submissiveness+to+authority+in+predominately+white+institutions.+Their+classroom+may+be+a+minefield+of+student+resistance+and+negative+attitudes+%5B3%5D.+The+Asian+female+faculty+is+an+underrepresented+and+less+illuminated+population+on+US+campuses.+The+Being+Ignored+2.0+is+an+ongoing+documentary+selfie+to+portrait+Asian+female+faculty+on+US+campuses+by+using+the+generative+art%2C+being+ignored+1.0.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
